Mercury I/O modules expand a controller’s reader and input/output capacity beyond its native ports, letting one Mercury controller (/product-category/hid/mercury/controllers/) support additional doors, elevators, or auxiliary inputs without adding a second panel. The current MR SIO Series 3 line includes the MR16IN-S3 multi-device interface panel, which adds 16 supervised inputs for auxiliary monitoring points such as door contacts and REX sensors, and the MR50-S3 reader interface panel, which adds a single additional card reader connection to a controller that has run out of native reader ports. Module selection depends on the specific expansion gap on site — additional readers versus additional monitored inputs — rather than a single default choice.
