The Mercury LP1501 is a compact, cost-effective intelligent controller built for a single door. It is part of the HID Mercury LP Intelligent series and works within HID/ASSA ABLOY access control systems.

Built for Single-Door and Small-Site Projects

The LP1501 natively supports 2 readers, 2 inputs, and 2 outputs. That makes it a strong fit for one opening, such as a main entrance or a server room door.

It runs on Power-over-Ethernet Plus (PoE+). One cable carries both data and power to the controller. This removes the need for a separate power supply and home-run wiring at the door, which simplifies installation for single-door and small-site deployments.

Room to Grow: Up to 17 Doors

The LP1501 is edge-capable, but it also scales. Add downstream Mercury MR62e network door controllers and I/O modules, and a single LP1501 can manage up to 17 doors or openings, with support for up to 130 inputs and 130 outputs. This lets integrators start small and expand the system as a site grows, without replacing the core controller.

Security and Network Features

The LP1501 includes an embedded crypto memory chip and data-at-rest encryption to protect stored credentials. It supports the OSDP protocol for secure, encrypted reader connectivity. On the network side, it supports IPv4/IPv6, TLS 1.2, and 802.1X for secure communication on modern IT networks (source: Mercury Security, LP1501 product page).

Cardholder capacity is 240,000, enough for large campuses and multi-tenant sites.

A Familiar Footprint for Easy Upgrades

The LP1501 shares its interface and physical footprint with Mercury EP controllers. That means it is a straightforward, drop-in replacement for sites already running EP hardware. It stays on Mercury’s current MercOS firmware platform, so it receives ongoing support and updates.
